Themes
Here is a list of themes used on this website. There are two ways to switch themes:
- Using the theme selector. This change persists across page visits.
- Using the
theme
parameter in the URL; e.g....?theme=mena
. This is only used for preview purposes because clicking a link will revert the theme to whatever you set with the theme selector.
The links in the headings will take you to the front page, rendered in the corresponding theme.
This site is hosted on Neocities, so the injection of styles and scripts, which is how I implemented the theme switching, must be handled in your browser. For that reason, the theme selector has some known flaws:
- It requires JavaScript to work, including via URL parameters. If JavaScript is disabled, the only usable theme is Beige.
- Pages may load with a flash of unstyled content. This is mostly to prevent the site from loading the Beige theme first.
Beige (ID: beige)

The default theme of the website! Professional-looking, it has been modified since, but mostly matches the first days of the site’s existence.
Released on January 24, 2025. It was the first theme released for this website and has stayed the default since.
Initially, the typeface used was Inter, but then I switched to Public Sans. Some page links were on the top bar instead of a menu, the top bar itself didn’t have the content centered, and there was no footer. Block links on the front page were styled a bit differently because their style was borrowed directly from the default Astro style.
This is a stable theme.
Tiny Orange (ID: tiny-orange)

The second theme made for the site! Includes changes that make it more similar to old websites, notably a smaller font, hence the name, “Tiny Orange”!
Released on September 9, 2025. One day, I wanted to find if someone made an error message generator, now that Atom Smasher went offline. I found one on barrarchiverio! I got inspired by barrarchiverio’s front page, even though that uses a white-on-black theme. So instead, I created this one, colored orange and brown.
This is a stable theme.
Mena (ID: mena)

A theme resembling Luna in some way. Named for the Gothic word for ‘moon’. FUN FACT: That word is a hapax legomenon, which means it was only attested once.
This theme uses JavaScript.
Released on September 9, 2025. Luna is the default theme of Windows XP. It was named for the Latin word for moon, so in reference to that, I took the Gothic word for moon, 𐌼𐌴𐌽𐌰 mena. It is a hapax legomenon, as it was only used once in the Gothic-language corpus, specifically, in Mark 13:24.

akei in jainans dagans afar þo aglon jaina sauil riqizeiþ jah mena ni gibiþ liuhaþ sein.“But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light,”
This is a beta theme. Right now, it doesn’t work the best on Android devices because they did not define a safe-area-inset-bottom
variable to use with env()
, causing text on the bottom to be obscured by buttons.
Upcoming themes
I want to create more themes, one of which would look much like Beige but use different colors and the typeface Andika.
